The Maltings

The Great Dunmow Maltings, which is grade II* listed was derelict and on the “At Risk” register when we became involved. The building was acquired by The Great Dunmow Maltings Preservation Trust, who gave us the task of transforming it into a dual purpose space both for community use and as the town museum besides providing a living walk-through experience of the C.16th malting industry. The timber framed building was carefully repaired using traditional methods. As the modern services slotted the end rooms, this left the long open floors available for multi purpose use.
