Watermill

This Grade II* listed water mill was in very bad repair, so the main challenge was to restore the mill and its machinery. We also needed to give the mill a new life to ensure it was used, so its open interior was incorporated as a main living space to the adjacent Grade II listed mill-house. The original cladding had been lost from the west gable, so there was an opportunity to clad it in glass sheeting to let daylight into the mill, without punching holes in the existing fabric and give a marvellous sectional view of the oak frame from the outside and spectacular views of the brook from the interior. The mill machinery and water wheel were all repaired and are now in full working order.
